About Me

Hi! I’m Amber!

I am interested in amateur radio, particularly in homebrewing equipment. I hold an Extra License with the callsign KO0I, but I’ve only recently found the space to build my HF antenna. I have been playing with RepRap machines for many years (since 2010) and presently own my best approximation of a Prusa i3, I use it to print all kinds of things. I enjoy gardening, zero-waste, tinkering, trading, being outdoors, and bicycling.

I enjoy making hardware with Verilog/SVA, but I haven’t been able to mess with my SnickerDoodle or other FPGA stuff for fun due to need of variety between my hobbies and work.

Recently I have been getting into developing a flying/space exploration game in C set in a hopeful post-scarcity society. It uses pixel art in X Pixmap (XPM) format and 2.5D graphics. It’s letting me grow my skills with openMP and learn shaders (well, I am barely absorbing shaders), which means I tend to favor CPU-heavy graphics. Video games are very challenging because they are so very multidisciplinary.
